Electromagnetic Compatibility Society of Australia (EMCSA)
The EMC Society hosted 3 presentations this year by the President of the IEEE’s EMC Society, Elya Joffe. They were all fully subscribed events.
The EMC Society held the sixth annual EMC Symposium in 2008. It is the only national event devoted to EMC in Australia and will run again in September 2009 in Adelaide. The Society’s self-funding newsletter presented articles and papers on EMC from local and overseas authors and attracted industry support through institutional listings. Requests for re-publication continue to be received, establishing the newsletter as a substantial source of new papers in the EMC field.
Technical presentations by local and international speakers enabled the EMC community to share experiences and provided CPD opportunities for Institution members. The EMCSA continued close cooperation with the new Victorian chapter of the IEEE EMC Society. Commonality of interests and membership between the two bodies has resulted in mutual benefit.
Our treasurer reports that the Society is in a sound financial position. This has allowed us to confidently embark on activities such as the EMC Symposium 2009 to be held in Adelaide.
The Society has an active National Committee with members drawn from Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, and is continually seeking to foster the formation of Chapters in other centres. Serving the needs of a geographically dispersed membership remains one of our challenges.
