Joint Board, Aerospace Engineering Engineers Australia and Royal Aeronautical Society – Australia Division (RAeS AD)
In early 2009 the Joint Board arranged its second successful Eminent Speaker Program, implemented at joint Engineers Australia Divisions/RAeS AD Branch venues. Joachim Szodruch spoke about air transport of the future.
RAeS AD has extended its Hargrave Awardee lecture program in 2009 to embrace both Engineers Australia Divisions and RAeS AD Branches, with the Newcastle Division lecture potentially leading to creation of a Newcastle RAeS AD Branch. The Joint Conferences Committee (JCC) of the JBAeroEng sponsored the 13th Australian International Aerospace Congress held in March 2009 in conjunction with the Avalon 2009 Air Show and Aerospace Exhibition. Significant industry participation was involved in its organization in recognition of the professional development opportunities. JBAeroEng sponsored the Best Paper of the Congress Award.
In September 2008 we were informed by the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) that our bid led by A/Prof Cees Bil secured the 28th Congress of ICAS to be held in Brisbane in 2012. Also Prof Murray Scott has been elected Chair of ICAS’s Programme Planning Sub-Committee.
The JCC initiated conference type professional development activity at centres of aerospace specialties in Australia. Joint activities have increased between Engineers Australia Divisions and RAeS AD Branches.
