This year has been a very busy one for RES. I was fortunate to be elected as National Chair at our AGM. Unfortunately due to ill health my activities were curtailed somewhat for the first half of the New Year. One casualty was the Newsletter which has now been re-activated.
I attended the Queensland Chapter AGM where an excellent presentation was given by Jean Cross and Richard Robinson. I would like to congratulate Magalie Aparis as the new Chair and thank very much Joanne Flint and Bruce Abbott for their efforts in the development of the QLD Chapter.
I attended a number of Victorian Chapter meetings, and my thanks go to Geoff Hurst as Chair and Darryl Weinart as secretary for their excellent efforts. The incoming Secretary John O’Meara has shown real enthusiasm since taking up the position.
Sydney Chapter have had a number of functions many of which were assisted by Dr Jean Cross who we are grateful to have as a member. Our Sydney Chair, Ian Burn has done an excellent job and I would like to thank him for his support in attending various other State meetings.
Brian Charlton was elected as Chair of Canberra Chapter and has continued on with both committee meetings and presentations.
In my own State it has been a trifle lean for the WA Chapter in terms of presentations due to the time problems of presenters but would like to thank our committee members Bob Logan and Keith Collins for their continued commitment. We are now planning for our National Conference. Risk 2010 will be held in the Yarra Valley, Victoria and we look forward to your support and attendance. A special thanks goes to the Victorian committee for their support of this major event.
Finally I would like to thank the tireless efforts of our Canberra secretariat team Lois Wurzer and Helen Slat whose efforts we could not survive without.
I wish all our members the best for Christmas and the New Year.
Brian Truman
Chair
